Common home and garden questions, answered by Richard Cordrey — qualified carpenter and cabinet maker, 51 years in business.
How do you fix a sagging wooden gate?
Most sagging gates are fixed by tightening or replacing the hinge screws, fitting heavier hinges, and making sure the diagonal brace runs from the bottom of the hinge side up to the top of the latch side.
Should you repair or replace a fence panel?
Check the posts before the panels.
When should you cut back wisteria?
Wisteria is pruned twice a year: in summer (July–August), cut the long whippy new shoots back to about five or six leaves; in winter (January–February), cut those same shoots back again to two or three buds.
