Haywards Heath grew up around its railway station in the Victorian era, so many of its houses have tall ceilings, deep skirting, panelled doors and original staircases. Decorating them well is mostly preparation — filling, sanding and cutting in neatly around mouldings — and that is time we are happy to spend.
